Chastleton House
One
of England's finest and most complete Jacobean houses dating
from 1612. When it was taken over by the National Trust a
few years ago it was described as a time warp as nothing had
been altered in the house for so many years. The National
Trust has now restored the house sympathetically, retaining
the impression that time stood still in the house - as well
it might after nearly 400 years of occupancy by the same family.
The house contains a mixture of rare and everyday objects.
The gardens have a Jacobean layout.
Note: Admission is by pre-booked timed ticket only.
